THE POISON IN COP-21

SDGs Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. “You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them and you help them understand that these resources are their own and they must protect them.” Wangari Maathai There is a worrying trend with the average global temperature increasing by 0.50C in the last 100 years mainly as a result of high carbon dioxide levels which are about 25% higher than in the pre-industrial period. This has been a major cause of catastrophic climate change over the years and with this in mind the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change formed the Conference of Parties (COP) who meet annually to deliberate on issues relating to climate change. Over the past few years, COP have been on a negotiating process to set out guidelines and direction to enhance international climate change cooperation. It’s that time of the year again and this time COP-21 UN Summit is being held in Paris. T...

SERVICE TO HUMANITY

In the wake of blood shortage in most blood blanks in the country, most of hospitals have been taking the initiative to collect blood to replenish the supply mainly from institutions. A tree is known by its fruits, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love. Bae,  I don't know where you are right now, I am not sure if you are dating someone else who you believe you'll get married to someday, I don't know if you are aware I exists, I don't know a lot of stuff that you know or don't and I don't even know if you'll ever get to read this but I’ll write it either way. I’ve always fantasized of how life will be with you around, I sleep every night imagining that you are right there next to me I guess just like you am lying to myself about the love of my life who always comes to mind every night. I pray I’m the kind of woman your mother always prayed you would find (you know the proverbs 31 wife). Even before I meet you, I just want to let you know how much I love you and how I would wish my parents loved you the same way. With all the love i...
